About the Place:

Diamond Harbour is situated 48 km. from Calcutta is idealy for Picknickers. The latest attraction of Diamond Harbour is the ancient Script discovered at Kulpi - enthusiasts can have a look at it in Jainagar at KaliDas Dutta's Collection Centre. Similarly images of Buddha in touch stone. Mahavir burnt clay utensils, ancient scripts and archeological relies of 11-12 centuries have been found in the Kankandighi village of the Raidighi district.

Place of Interest:

During a short holiday in the Winter Season, one could always take some packed lunch and after spending the whole day here, return feeling refreshed at the end of the day. The Ganga here is very wide & the pacetoo has changed moving Southward to the sea. There are arrangements for a boating on the Ganga by boat. Then there are also ferry launches which cross over to the other bank to Kunkrahati. From Kunkrahati one can take a bus to the port town of Haldia.

How to Reach:

From Sealdah (South) there are local trains, leaving for Diamond Harbour. It is a journey of about 1.30 hrs. There are many pvt. buses going along route no. 76 from Babughat via Sarisa to Diamond Harbour.
